NJ Marks “Human Trafficking Awareness Day”

The article explained that trafficking victims are often seen as “hybrid victim-criminals,” and many are charged with crimes that they were forced to commit, such as prostitution. NJ officials are now working to vacate the crimes of those who meet the requirements to be identified as a trafficking victim, in recognition of the fact that those who have been trafficked should be treated as victims of sexual abuse, not willing perpetrators of a crime.
